Aerial New York City Photography

Portrait Photography, Photography Tutorial

If you are afraid of heights, aerial photography may not be suited for you.  The photographer behind these photos is the very brave and adventurous,  Tom Ryaboi also known as Roof Topper.   Originally from Toronto, Canada, Tom compares his experience with urban exploration to the beginning of Parkour. Parkour is a French term  defined as a method of movement focused on moving around obstacles with speed and efficiency.   He says, “there is a group of very dedicated individuals who will not rest until they are able to stand on every roof in the city and call it theirs, even if its just for a minute or two.”  Tom’s photos are one-of-a-kind, they notoriously give you a feeling that you are on the top of the world.

Tom Ryaboi has spent his life dangling from buildings trying to achieve what he calls the ultimate rush. He said: “When you climb to the top of a skyscraper and open its hatch for the first time, a pure rush of adrenaline hits you as you overlook the city from above.  one of Toms most astonishing photographs, you can actually see Tom’s legs while he is sitting a top a building like nothing is happening beneath him.

The photographer himself is telling that he loves to travel and experience the world. Tom says about this type of photography “it is quite addictive, standing on top of the world, but there is something more. There is really only one way to find out what that is… I urge you to get on a roof and discover it for yourself.”  (Yea Right!!)  Tom wants to leave something behind as well as he learns new things, and the camera allows him to make some stunning pieces of aerial photography. Not to mention that the photos he takes are crispy clear and detailed. No wonder, he is using a bad-ass lens.
